AAAAHHHHHHH. I knew there was SOMETHING I was going to forget to save!! I forgot to save my trillian chat logs!! Now I'm sad. I love my Trillian chat logs! They have all my conversations since I have gotten this computer. And it may sound creepy or something to save chat logs, but it's not. I love my chat longs! They are nice. They contain SO many hours of amusement, for so little disk space! And sometimes I IM myself links or quotes or ideas that I want to remember later, knowing that it will be in my chat logs. And now they're all GONE! POOF! Never to be seen again. So many conversations, good conversations, bad conversations, deep conversations, superficial, all gone! Into the world of NOTHING.

Stupid computer. Why'd you have to make my sound go away. If it weren't for the stupid sound, I would still have my chat logs.

Remember way back when, when I first complained that the sound on my computer didn't work?

I called the tech help people at Sony, and did what they said. I talked to Max, their automated assistant. He always misunderstood me. I hate Max.

I got some help from 70m, still without success.

I then decided it was definitely a hardware problem. But of course, Sony wouldn't come to that conclusion for quite some time yet. So, I finally decided it was time to save everything to CDs (I have 9 CDs total, though I probably could have fit everything on 7 or 8 if I had really wanted to). I talked to Max again. And then I did what Sony wanted me to, I did a complete System Restore. And, big surprise - still no sound!!

So now, finally. Finally finally finally, Sony is sending me a box.
("A box?" asked my sister. "Yes, a box" I said. "It's just like an oven. You slip the computer in. Let it sit for an hour, and when you take the computer out, it sings lovely music".)
I should get the box on Tuesday. Put my computer in it, FedEx it out the same day, and have my computer back the following Tuesday. If everything goes as planned. Which I hope it will. Because I want to hear my computer singing lots of pretty music in time for the start of summer school.

Hi. My name is [R] and I have no life. Whatsoever. At all.

Would you like proof?

I just spent the last hour looking through all the Gilmore Girls episode transcripts (seasons 1-3, and about half of 4) for the word "oy". I was curious how many times the word "oy" (a variation of "oy vey") was uttered in Gilmore Girls.

Are you wondering now yourself? No? Well, tough. You will soon know how many times the word "oy" was said in Gilmore Girls.

1) Season 2, Episode 22 "I Can't Get Started"
Lorelai: Huh. You know what I just realized? Oy is the funniest word in the entire world.
Rory: Huh.
Lorelai: I mean, think about it. You never hear the word oy and not smile. Impossible. Funny, funny word.
Emily: Oh, dear God.
Lorelai: Poodle is another funny word.
Emily: Please drink your drink, Lorelai.
Lorelai: In fact, if you put oy and poodle together in the same sentence, you’d have a great new catch phrase, you know? Like, oy with the poodles already. So from now on, when the perfect circumstances arise, we will use our favorite new catch phrase.
Rory: Oy with the poodles already.
Lorelai: I’m telling you, it’s knocking ‘whatcha talking ‘bout, Willis?’ right out of first place.

2) Season 3, Episode 17 "A Tale of Poes and Fire"
Babette: Hey Michel, I just hit F4 and the num lock key and the one with the little apple on it and it's freaking out like it's on acid or something.
Michel: Oy vey.

3) Season 4, Episode 2 "The Lorelais' First Day at Yale"
Rory: What's going on? We're late.
Lorelai: I'm looking for the camera.
Rory: Oy vey, she's looking for the camera.
Lorelai: I heard that.

4) Season 4, Episode 7 "The Festival of Living Art"
Miss Patty: What the hell is that?
Rory: It's Sookie's baby pager.
Miss Patty: Oy to the vey!

5) Season 4, Episode 11 "In the Clamor and the Clangor"
(In the Stars Hallow Church)
Lorelai: Oy! Would it kill God to dust?

The word "oy" was uttered in five different scenes throughout the first 3 and a half seasons of Gilmore Girls. Exciting, no?

And, on a similar topic, is the word "Oy" or "Oy vey" used in other places? It's Yiddish, and I know some Yiddish phrases are now used much more frequently than in the past by people with no Jewish background - probably due to television and movies in which they are used. Are they used where you are? What Yiddish phrases do you know? Do you know schlep? Kvetch? Schmuck? Schmutz? Spiel? Nosh?
