I was looking for information on something (I have absolutely no recollection of what I was looking for) when I found this - streamable 80s commercials! (Some of them aren't actually from the 80s - some are from the early 90s.) They are great! They're almost as much fun as VH1's I Love The 80s. All that's missing is the snarky commentary.

And, as a Blog Birthday Gift to me, Blogger decided to randomly show more than one entry. And since it did that, I decided to figure out how to make the spacing work a little better. So now, new layout! It's not perfect, and the colors are a little plain, being all different shades of only one color - but it's not bright yellow and it's not brown. I don't think it particularly hurts anyone's eyes. It looks, although slightly different, at least acceptable on both Internet Explorer and Mozilla. So, it's staying, at least for the time being.

I'm also kind of excited to say I made it from scratch - I didn't use any pieces of templates from anyone else. I tried to come up with something new - so that's why the title is going down the left side of the page. I don't know if it was a good idea or not - any opinions? The only thing I copy-pasted from elsewhere was the actual blogger code - and the copy-pasting came from my old template, and it was changed some - so that's okay.

Does all the pink make you want to go away and find something more colorful and less...prissy? Does the title going down the side, with the blog-spot/google text-ads at the top confuse you? Is the pink (I prefer to call it dusty rose) writing make you want to run away and hide? What about the fact that the links are black but highlighted in pink? (I didn't actually mean for that to happen, but it did, so I went with it.) Does the checkered background my your eyes zing? Is the links list confusing? Are you tired of reading my questions?

I missed it. But, a few days ago was my Blog Birthday! My blog was two years old on January 2nd. My first entry was posted in January 2nd 2002. (But don't click on the link in that entry. It is now some porn site. It used to be a site with ugly computer wallpapers that I had made.)

The very first post I made was on December 30, 2001, but it contained only the word "test" repeated nine times. So I don't think that really counts.

A two year old randomly-updated webpage translates in website years to much older than two. I wonder how old it would translate as.

When I first made the site, it was a very bright yellow color - it didn't look so yellow on my computer. I think it hurt people's eyes. Unfortunately (or, fortunately for people's eyes,) I accidentally saved over that layout on the blog, and then it got erased on the computer when the hard drive crashed. So, no more bright yellow anywhere.

It's really kind of hard to believe that I've been at this for more than two years. I get easily distracted - so the fact that I have kept this up is pretty amazing. Even though I do go though extended periods of no posting, I always come back. I hope I last another two years (or more!)

(Hm, this was very choppy sounding. I used short sentences. I say, blame it on my wannabe English teacher this past semester. He ruined me.)

I ordered the Seasons 1-4 DVDs of Buffy - The boxed set from Amazon. I was waiting and waiting and waiting for them to come. I used super shipper savings, so it was supposed to take a while to come. Although, every other time when I have chosen free shipping, my product has still come in four day or less. This one arrived on the last day of the arrival estimate - but I got free shipping so I can't really complain. The UPS person played a version of ding-dong-ditch. They dropped off the package in our breezeway (I guess it's kind of a porch, but with walls and windows), rang the doorbell, and left.

I got the DVDs, broke into the cellophane wrapping, and watched the episode Hush with director's commentary - it was great! I had done this on a tv with a DVD player. Then, I brought the DVDs to my computer, to play on my computer's DVD player. I popped in the first DVD of the first season, and it downloaded its own player - I wasn't really happy about that, but oh well. So, I watched the first two episodes with director commentary - again - fun! But now, my computer will not play any of the DVDs. Not that first one, and none others. It won't play them with the player it downloaded, nor will it play the DVDs with the player I usually use for DVDs. And that's bad because I don't have a DVD player at school - just my computer! And I know the DVDs are region 1, as is my computer (because it plays other DVDs just fine). Aahhh.

AAHHH Blogger is POSSESSED!! It randomly shows the brown template, even though I saved over it!

Oops. I accidentally saved the new layout to this blog, instead of the test one. But, you can only see one post at a time on the new layout, so I threw this one back up. It may look bad on non IE computer, but at least it's not puke brown.

I'm even going to be so kind as to put up the html. So, you know, if anyone understands how blogger works, and wants to take a peek at it to tell me what I've done wrong, you can. ;-)

I was working on the new layout all day. And right when I was getting close to being somewhere near finished, Blogger decided to make some scheduled updates. They reassured me that they were scheduled, yet they didn't mention anywhere that they were going to be doing this. So I had to stop for a while.

When I came back, a few things were magically fixed.

Now they're broke again.
Only one post shows up at a time. And the comments link doesn't show up. Why? They did for 10 minutes. And now they don't anymore. If you go to [rtest].blogspot.com then you can see what it's supposed to look like. Except only one post shows. And you'll be better off using IE. But if you use Mozilla (or anything that works like Mozilla) you'll survive. But, Do try to keep your screen maximized. It collapses funny. I haven't figured that part out yet. Any suggestions will be accepts with a smile.

I'm working on the new layout. I'm very proud of myself for doing it. I may give up any minute though.

One of my friends from school lives on a farm. She (or rather, her parents) raise beef cows (in addition to corn and soybeans). We were talking about nothing even remotely related to beef when this conversation started.

FarmerFriend*: american beef is a-ok!
Souprgirl1: hehe!!
Souprgirl1: you're a beef commercial!
FarmerFriend: this mad cow thing is just crap. tell everyone you know that.
FarmerFriend: mad cow is all a hoax! it was one lousy cow! from canada!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
FarmerFriend: my dad turned down 88 cents/lb the monday before it came out, and now it's terribly low.
FarmerFriend: i'll probably have to drop out of school and join the gypsies.

(*FarmerFriend is not her real name.)

And even though I'm a vegetarian and don't eat beef, I have to say, please keep buying it. (Even if you are from Canada). Otherwise, my friend will have to become a Gypsy, and well, that just wouldn't be fun.

(Also, let me say, that we had this conversation with her using a 28k modem. And she was downloading something at the same time. I don't even remember using a 28k modem. I must've started out on the internet with 28k, but by the time I started using a PC (instead of the Mac) the computer had a 56k modem. I don't know how she was downloading and chatting on 28k. I guess it's possible. And the fact that I can barely believe it, and it was common to do only a few years ago, shows how fast the internet is progressing.)
