This was (one of the two entries) in the Blotter under the "Theft" category last week:
"Two lawn ornaments, a three-foot tall reindeer and a Christmas tree, worth $150 each were taken between 9 a.m., Jan. 23, and 8 p.m., Jan. 29 from the XXX block of XXX Rd."

Nature does funny things sometimes. Especially near Chicago. The snow rolled itself into balls. (Sorry, I couldn't find a permilink. The article is titled "Rolling Snow" and written by Amy Hoak, but, I also don't see a search box, so I don't know if that information will help at all.)
