Today I was talking with one of my professors about a topic for an upcoming project. We were trying to figure out what words an acronym stood for. My professor was using the search button built into her Internet Explorer browser, and searching for the acronym. We couldn't find it there, so she decided to Google it (instead of using the MSN search that's built into IE). She went to her Favorites menu and looked for Google. Not finding it there, she went back to the MSN search window and did an MSN search for Google. Let me repeat it. My professor did an MSN search for Google.

I had to put some effort into the expressionless face I barely maintained.

A few weeks ago I burned my arm cooking.

Today? I burned my arm cooking. Because I am just that smart.

I was boiling a pot of water. There was a lid on the pot. I went to take the lid off. (You see what's coming, don't you. Because most people know what happens when you de-pressurize something that is pressurized.) I lifted up the lid, and the steam attacked my arm. I ran it under water on and off for nearly two hours this time. Hopefully it won't scar like the other burns seems to be doing. They're still pretty red something like 6 weeks later.

Of course, when I told other people what happened, they laughed. Because everyone knows that you're supposed to open a lid so that the steam can release away from you, instead of toward you. (Everyone, that is, except for me.)

Today at pre-school, I knelt on a blob of play-dough. It was a color that can really only be described as Shrek green. I haven't had a chance to go back to my room to change, so I've been walking around all day with a crusty bit of Shrek green goo ground into the knee of my jeans.

I had caffeine and food in an attempt to give me energy to help me focus on writing a paper that is due tomorrow. But the sheer volume of caffeine and food that I ate is now making me nauseous. Which is not helping the paper writing at all.

Connected to this is a rant about the education program at my school. I'm a big fan of elementary education. Yay children between the ages of 5 and 11. My school does not separate the education classes until you get to theory classes. Therefore, I have to write a paper in response to a situation that is occurring in a high school English class. I don't care about high school english classes. I'm never going to teach a high school English class because I will never be qualified to teach a high school English class.

And because of that high school English class, I am now nautious.

Thanks, high school English class.

Strange things / things out of the ordinary that have happened this weekend:

  • I saw a truck pulling four horses. Not the other way around. There were four horses somehow attached by harnesses to the back of a pick-up truck, and the truck was slowly driving while the horses trotted along behind the truck.

  • I saw a horse-pulled tractor. Which may have been very commonplace 100 years ago, but now seems just as weird as the truck pulling the horses.

  • I saw two newborn colts. All these horse sightings happen when I'm riding my bike through the countryside. I rode my bike on Monday, and then again on Friday. On Monday there were no baby horses. On Friday there were two! They must have been born some time during the week, and were adorable. This morning, I saw one of them nursing and it was really exciting

  • There was a group of naked people running around campus. That is not particularly strange or out of the ordinary. One of them insisted on hugging me. That was very out of the ordinary. And...yeah. She was naked.

  • Last night, I went to bed at about 11:30pm. My floor was quiet, no one was there. Sometime between midnight and about 1:30am, a party started on my floor. I think it was a birthday party. I was very confused because my floor is usually eerily quiet, and then all the sudden I was woken up by a party that started some time around 1:00am. I wasn't sure if it was really happening or if I was dreaming. It was really happening, but I'm still confused as to why it didn't start until so late.
